This is my first wired thermometer and it works great. Everything is well marked and makes sense, and does what I expect it to do (unlike lots of other devices these days). The tilt screen is very handy and the magnetic back on it sticks nice and solid, no fear of it falling on the floor if it gets bumped. I don't use it constantly but have no problems using the controls on it. The alarm is plenty loud, so even if I am in another part of the house I can easily hear it. All in all I am very happy with my purchase.
Purchased this for my mother for Christmas largely due to the fact that I was sick of eating overcook and dried out meats (especially chicken). She LOVES it. Meats are cooked perfectly every time and it is very easy to use.
The cord is fairly long and allows for placement near anywhere. The magnets on the base allow for easy placement on a vent hood or refrigerator. This was my first digital thermometer, and it is wonderful. Having the option to alert you to a certain temperature is invaluable, and the alert is very noticeable, even upstairs. The unit never turns off, which, while conserving battery life, is somewhat disconcerting at first. The probe is removable and has a 90 degree bend at the end of it, to allow for easier placement in food items. I can't think of a single flaw in this device. The 4-for-3 deal makes this a must buy.
I have not regretted it. When I purchased my first digital thermometer my cooking world changed. This is my second digital cooking thermometer. This model is easy to read, easy to set and easy to hear when the alarms go off.The only complaint I have about the device is there is no means of turning it off. I now know when my food is rare, medium or burned, I mean well done. I did not know that you should not submerge the probe when cleaning it and, sadly, sent the probe of my first digital thermometer to an early retirement.I purchased this on based on the reviews. In today's green environment I get so used to turning off any device when I am done using it. However, even with several months of heavy use I still have not had to change the battery.
We use the timer feature the most. I bought this to replace one we had bought at a local store, which didn't have it in stock when I looked. It has been so perfect for me and my family. My husband cooks with the thermometer alarm and is very happy with it.The one I replaced was at least 2 years old and I think the elementary school kid of ours broke it. I was very happy to see I could replace it by purchasing it from Amazon.
